The driver of a Mercedes has been forced to get a taxi home after Hertfordshire police seized his car in Harpenden.

The vehicle was stopped at around 6.20pm yesterday (Tuesday, February 27) on Lower Luton Road.

Officers discovered that the vehicle was not insured and reported the motorist - a man in his 50s - before he ordered a taxi to his home address.

 A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: "A Mercedes was seized by officers in Harpenden as it was not insured. 

"The vehicle was stopped by your Harpenden Neighbourhood Policing Team officers on Lower Luton Road.

"The driver – aged in his 50’s - had to get a taxi after being reported for the offences."
