A fly tipper must pay thousands after admitting to illegally dumping fridges in an access road in Kings Langley.
Peter Gumble appeared in St Albans Magistrates’ Court on January 31 charged with depositing controlled waste without an environmental permit in an access road off Barnes Lane.
According to court documents, the 69-year-old left two fridge-freezers, a fridge and a freezer on the land, on July 3 last year.

After Gumble, of Barley Mow, St Albans, indicated a guilty plea, he was fined £880, handed a £352 victim services surcharge, and ordered to pay £1,807.50 in costs for a total of £3,039.50.
It was not the only time Barnes Lane has been the site of fly-tipping in recent years.
Last year, a Watford man was ordered to pay £420 for leaving 20 bags of rubble and soil in Barnes Lane on August 27, 2022.
The same road was blocked due to fly-tipping in both August and September 2023.
