The Herts Advertiser is currently hosting the vote for St Albans' Best Food and Drink Venue, on behalf of the St Albans District Chamber of Commerce.

Every year, the Chamber runs its Community Business Awards, with Best Food and Drink Venue as one of the categories.

The poll at the bottom of this page allows you to have your say on who should claim the award, with the closing date being Friday, September 1.

However, before you choose your favourite, here's a closer look at each of the five restaurants that have made the shortlist:

Per Tutti Italian Restaurant

Per Tutti is a family-run Italian restaurant on Holywell Hill.

With locations in both St Albans, Berkhamsted and (soon to be) Radlett, the venue serves "exciting, recognisable Italian favourites" and caters "for every appetite".

The restaurant has a 4.5 star rating on TripAdvisor, with 451 out of 652 reviewers giving it all five stars.

RMP1958 wrote: "Excellent food, service and atmosphere.

"The menu offers a wide range of dishes and the food is well presented.

"The bill was very reasonable."

The Elephant & Castle, Wheathampstead

The Elephant & Castle, near Wheathampstead, is a country venue that was named as the UK's 'Best Rural Craft Beer Pub' earlier this year.

The Farr Brew pub - which sits just outside the village, on Amwell Lane - has previously been named in the top five 'Best Destination Pubs in Britain'.

The pub has a four star rating on TripAdvisor, with 85 of 162 reviewers giving it top marks.

Sarah B commented: "A wonderful friendly pub with superb food.

"Definitely worth a visit.

"A great choice of wines and draft ales and the cheescake was divine!"

Ye Olde Fighting Cocks

Reputedly Britain's Oldest Pub, Ye Olde Fighting Cocks sits between St Albans Cathedral and Verulamium Park.

The pub was purchased by members of its former staff in 2022, after falling into administration.

It has since seen a resurgence, and now hosts a variety of events throughout the year.

Ye Olde Fighting Cocks has a four star rating on TripAdvisor, with 155 of 425 reviewers it giving it five stars.

Maria Elena wrote: "Our favorite place to visit whenever we visit our family in St Albans.

"A lovely place with lovely people."

Bellaccino’s Italian Restaurant

The second Italian restaurant on the shortlist, Bellaccino’s is located near the famous St Albans clocktower in French Row.

The family-run eatery prides itself on its use of "fresh Italian and locally sourced produce, to create an exciting menu that serves lunch and dinner".

Bellaccino's has a four star rating on TripAdvisor, with 146 of 264 reviewers giving it top marks.

David E commented: "Had a fantastic lunch.

"The food was outstanding, the best Italian meal I have had.

"Service and staff are first class."

Lussmanns Sustainable Kitchen

Lussmanns is a sustainable restaurant chain that has branches across Hertfordshire, including in St Albans and Harpenden.

Lussmanns has the aim of making "sustainable dining accessible to all", and serves a seasonal menu to guests.

The restaurant has a 4.5 star rating on TripAdvisor, with 854 of 1,507 reviewers giving it all five stars.

"We have visited many times and the reason we keep coming back is the excellent food, great drink selection and the helpful staff."
