Wheathampstead's Elephant and Castle inn has been named as the UK's 'Best Rural Craft Beer Pub'.

The Farr Brew pub - which sits just outside the village, on Amwell Lane - was presented with the award by SIBA (The Society of Independent Brewers).

The Wheathampstead location has been named 'UK's Best Independent Craft Bar or Pub - Rural', having previously been named in the top five 'Best Destination Pubs in Britain'.

Nick Farr, the managing director of Farr Brew, told The Herts Advertiser: "No Hertfordshire pub has ever won this award.

"Hundreds of pubs entered across the country.

"We think its something we as a town and a county we should be very proud of.
