A Christmas lights trail near St Albans has announced that a 'Quiet Time' will take place, for those who prefer a quieter setting.

Lumagica - at Willows Activity Farm in London Colney - will launch the calmer sessions on Thursday (December 15), with the first 'Quiet Time' taking place between 4.30pm and 6pm.

The event will be aimed at those living with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), additional needs and other SEN (Special Educational Needs) requirements.

The activity farm's chief executive, Lyssa Elster, said: "Christmas is such a busy time of the year for so many families and some families can find it a bit too much.

"Our aim with Quiet Time is to allocate some sessions to those families who would feel more comfortable attending with fewer people.

"We have been delighted to welcome some families with members who have additional needs and they have reported back that they’ve found the lights and calming sounds a very positive experience – so we wanted to extend this with quieter sessions to make the experience as good as it can be.”

The lights trail itself is a 1.2km circular path which features sculptures of wild and mythical animals, animated light tunnels and a "unique light and water show".

A soundtrack has also been specially composed for the experience.

MK Experience's Gilbert Menassa, who installed the lighting, added: "What sets Lumagica St Albans apart from other light trails is the interactivity.

"There is an opportunity to play with light, to create unique patterns with light and to experience an incredible light on water show across the lakes.

"This is completely unique to the local area and something we want everyone to experience, and to feel comfortable with, which is why the Quiet Time sessions are so important to us.”

Tickets to Lumagica St Albans are available on the trail's website (www.lumagicauk.com/stalbans).
