Scenes from Loot

JOE Orton’s classic play Loot is being performed by Wheathampstead Dramatic Society next week.

The loot in question is the spoils of a bank robbery, next door to an undertakers, and nothing is quite as you would expect it to be.

In Orton’s subversive farce, the author turns everything on its head, making fun of various aspects of the establishment.

The action takes place on the day of Mrs McLeavy’s funeral and features the grieving widower, the son and his mate, the charming manipulative nurse, Truscott of the Yard and a very useful constable. It is packed with one-liners, double entendres and slapstick action.

It can be seen at the Memorial Hall in Marford Road at 8pm next Thursday to Saturday (19-21) and tickets at £8 are available from Manor Pharmacy in Harpenden and Wheathampstead, Felicitations in Harpenden, by calling 01582 629594 or visit www.wheathampsteaddramaticsociety.co.uk
