BERNARD Shaw’s classic Pygmalion is being performed at his home in Ayot St Lawrence from tomorrow (Friday) until Sunday.
Probably Shaw’s best-known comedy, it features Eliza Doolittle and Professor Henry Higgins in the story of how a street girl comes to be passed off as a Duchess.
The play made it on to the silver screen during Shaw’s lifetime and won him an Oscar. It later became the theme of the successful musical My Fair Lady.
The gardens open at 5.30pm for picnickers and performances begin at 6.30pm. Tickets in advance are £17 with children £13 from the box office on 0844 249 1895. On the night they are £20.50 with children £15.25.
