Grumpies ‘groom’ Arena audience

Grumpy Old Women are back at The Alban Arena this Sunday, May 3, ready to knock some sense into the nation.
Perrier Award winning comedian, writer and original star of Grumpy Old Women, Jenny Eclair, will be joined by actresses Susie Blake and Kate Robbins in the show that begins at 8pm.
It will include a look at the art of ‘Grumpy Grooming’, the joy of large pants, a free nagging master class, beards for women, middle-aged drinking: the rules, how to customise an unwanted pole-dancing kit and a mercifully brief Zumba demonstration.

Stars in Their Eyes performer Toni Lee becomes Karen Carpenter is We’ve Only Just Begun at the Arena from 7.30pm next Wednesday, May 6.
She will be singing over 22 hits including Close To You, We’ve Only Just Begun, Top of The World, Please Mr Postman and many more. Tickets are £18.50.
Acclaimed character comedian Simon Brodkin, otherwise known as Lee Nelson, comes to the Arena with his brand new show, Suited and Booted, at 7.30pm next Thursday, May 7.
The creation of comedian and fully qualified doctor Simon Brodkin, Lee Nelson rose to fame as a chav-tastic South London geezer on BBC 3’s Well Good Show. The new show will see Nelson swapping his trademark baseball cap and upturned collar for a smoother, more sophisticated look.
Tickets are £20.
The Soul’d Out Soul Party Night next Saturday, May 9, offers the chance to dance the night away to the hits of the sixties and seventies.
A 13-piece band will be playing in the main auditorium with DJs spinning original vinyl all night.
It gets underway at 7.30pm and tickets are £12.50 in advance and £15 on the door.
The tempo changes next Sunday night, May 10, when the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra brings classical favourites to the Arena from 7.30pm. The concert will feature Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro Overture, Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, Vaughan Williams’ Lark Ascending, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, There will also be a performance by violinist Tamsin Waley-Cohen.
Tickets are £30, £27.50 and £22.50.
German comedian Henning Wehn’s appearance at the Arena next Friday, May 8, has sold out.
