FRESH from the launch of his album of greatest hits, pop legend Gilbert O’Sullivan is appearing on the stage of the Alban Arena next Saturday, March 31.

In his long career, he has accumulated 14 top 40 hits, including Clair, Alone Again (Naturally), Get Down and Nothing Rhymed, with number one singles on both sides of the Atlantic as well as four top-five UK albums.

His live performances showcase his musical abilities and all the hits from the early seventies right through to 2011. He will be joined on stage by his 11-piece band, including a string quartet.

Tickets for the performance, which begins at 7.30pm, are available from the box office 01727 844488 or book online at www.alban-arena.co.uk

The sights and sounds of the sixties can be seen this Monday, March 26, when the Bootleg Beatles return to the Arena at 8pm.

Originally from the West End cast of the Broadway musical Beatlemania, the Bootlegs began their career in 1980.

Using film footage of the period and ‘with a little help from’ their regular brass and string ensemble the show traces the history of the Fab Four from Liverpool’s Cavern Club through Sgt Pepper to The Apple Rooftop.

n Acclaimed movie Coriolanus is being shown at the Arena at 1.30pm and 7.30pm next Tuesday, March 27.

The bloodthirsty Coriolanus, played by Ralph Fiennes, is a hero but despises the citizens of Rome from which he is ultimately banished with his mother Volumnia.

As a result he offers his life or his services to his sworn enemy Tullus Aufidius, played Gerard Butler.

At the same times next Wednesday and Thursday, March 28 and 29, the Arena is showing Stephen Spielberg’s War Horse.

The story of the love between Albert and his horse Joey, even when the horse is shipped to France during World War One, and their reunion as the Armistice is declared is based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo.

Tickets are £4 for the matinee and £6/£4 concessions for evening screenings.
