One of the most highly-regarded musicians produced by the second British folk revival will be performing at Harpenden Public Halls next Saturday, May 24.

Dave Swarbrick’s work with the group Fairport Convention from 1969 is usually credited with leading them to produce their seminal album Liege and Lief which initiated the electric folk movement.

He is appearing from 7.30pm with St Albans-based all-female trio Said the Maiden, who recently opened for Clannad.

During the 17-date tour organised by Helen Meissner who was behind last year’s Folkstock Festival, Said the Maiden and Swarb – as the singer is known to fans – perform The Quiet Joys of Brotherhood which Swarb has described as ‘the best version I’ve ever heard’.

Also appearing is Daria Kulesh, who is opening the show with an acoustic version of her new charity single, and Herts-based acts Kelly Oliver and John Farndon.

Tickets are £10 in advance from 01582 767525 or go to www.harpendenpublichalls.co.uk
