Producers behind this year’s St Albans pantomime Cinderella have reached for the stars and announced some of the show’s main cast members.
Rachel Stevens sang “there ain’t no party like an S Club party” and families attending this year’s Alban Arena panto will get the chance to find out.
The former S Club 7 singer will be appearing on stage in St Albans this Christmas as the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella.
CBeebies favourite Mr Bloom – real name Ben Faulks – also joins the St Albans Cinderella cast as Buttons and will be a hit with kids and their mums.
St Albans panto regular and recently appointed Alban Arena patron Bob Golding will also return – but not as the Dame this time.
Comedian Bob will be wearing the trousers this year, playing Dandini.
Still to be announced are who will play the title role of Cinderella, Prince Charming, the Wicked Stepmother and Cinders’ Ugly Stepsisters.
A post on The Alban Arena’s Facebook page added “we are announcing some more names tomorrow”.
Rachel Stevens appeared in panto Jack and the Beanstalk last year at Bournemouth’s Pavilion Theatre.
As well as enjoying chart success with number one hits Don’t Stop Movin’, Never Had A Dream Come True and Bring It All Back with S Club 7 back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Rachel was runner-up in Strictly Come Dancing in 2008 with Italian professional dancer Vincent Simone.
She controversially lost out on the Glitterball trophy to Holby City actor Tom Chambers, with Welwyn Garden City model and TV presenter Lisa Snowdon third in the series six finale.
So if you “wanna see Rachel do her thing” in Cinderella, book your tickets to the ball now.
The St Albans pantomime will run from Thursday, December 6, 2018 to Sunday, January 6, 2019.
