A CHRISTMAS concert dedicated to the memory of the late Dan Keen is being given by the Harpenden-based community chamber choir, the Lea Singers, next Wednesday, December 23.

James Sherlock will be conducting the choir from 7.45pm at Harpenden Public Halls in Southdown Road.

The concert, in aid of Grove House from whose nurses and staff Dan, a long-time supporter of the Lea Singers, received loving care in his final months, will feature an eclectic mix of traditional carols, Christmas songs, punch and mince pies.

It will feature Scottish tenor, 26-year-old Nicky Spence, as special guest. Nicky's debut album, My First Love, was recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and he has since recorded with Placido Domingo and Kiri te Kanawa as well as touring with Bryn Terfel, Katherine Jenkins, Hayley Westenra, Lesley Garrett and Shirley Bassey.

Tickets are £13 with concessions £11 and under-16s £5, available from Mrs Elizabeth Keen on 01582 761246.
