One of the brightest stars on the contemporary scene, Zoe Rahman, plays Herts Jazz Club this Sunday (30).

A pianist and composer, her style is deeply rooted in jazz yet reflects her classical background, British/Bengali heritage and her broad musical taste.

A highly sought-after musician, she has worked with the likes of George Mraz, Courtney Pine and Jerry Dammers’ Spatial AKA Orchestra.

Her 2006 album, Melting Pot, was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and her critically acclaimed Where Rivers Meet found her and her brother Idris Rahman exploring the music of their Bengali heritage in a fusion of jazz and world music.

The Zoe Rahman Trio can be seen at the club which meets at the Hawthorne Theatre, Welwyn Garden City, from 7.30pm and tickets at £3 students/£10 members/£13 concessions/£14 full can be booked online at www.hertsjazz.co.uk/currentseason.html. On the door they are £5 students/£12 members/£15 concessions.
