Two local ukelele bands will be joining a festival to raise money for Unicef next Saturday, February 27.
Ukes for Unicef, which is being held at Berkhamsted Civic Centre, will feature St Albans’ performers Katie’s Jumping Fleas and Ver Players.
Now in its fifth year, the festival welcomes ukulele players from all over UK for a day of strumming and singing which has raised over £10,000 for Unicef to support their work promoting children’s rights and well-being across the world.
The daytime session runs from 11am to 5pm and will have a rolling programme of performances from featured artists and open mic spots as well as strum-a-longs and workshops for players of all abilities, including complete beginners, of any age.
Spare ukuleles will be available for those who have never played and want to have a go.
A suggested entrance charge of £5 for Unicef is recommended.
For the first time this year there will be an evening concert from 7pm to 9.30pm, featuring national and local ukulele stars.
Tickets at £12 and further information is available from here.
