Local organist Birgitta Birchall will be giving the lunchtime recital in a St Albans church next Tuesday. August 19, as part of a series organised by the New School of Organ Studies.

Birgitta studied music at Gothenburg University in her native Sweden and was active as a teacher, organist, choir leader and music director in the Gothenburg region until she came to the UK in 1986.

She left her post at St Albans Girls School a few years ago to pursue a freelance career, tutoring, performing and examining. She also started a tutoring business with a colleague. Birgitta regularly plays for services at Dagnall Street Baptist Church, St Albans.

Next Tuesday’s recital at the Marlborough Road Methodist Church begins at 12.30pm and light refreshments will be available.
