Robin's lunch recital

LEADING organist Robin Walker will be giving the lunchtime recital next Tuesday at a St Albans church.

Director of Music at St Mary's Church, Hampstead, and organist of the Icelandic Church in London, Robin has performed at many of the country's top venues including St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and St John's Smith Square.

After an early musical education as a chorister at Ripon Cathedral, Robin studied organ at the Royal Academy of Music under David Titterington, the incoming director of the St Albans International Organ Festival, Patrick Russill and Naji Hakim.

He completed his Bachelor Degree with honours and the Postgraduate course with Distinction before being awarded the Diploma of the RAM, the Academy's top prize.

As well as his performances in this country, he has appeared at Rouen and Budapest Cathedrals, Bergen and the Bonn Basilica.

The recital at the Marlborough Road Methodist Church begins at 12.30pm and light lunches will be available. Admission is free with a retiring collection in aid of the New School of Organ Studies and the church.
