A SPECIAL lunchtime concert by the Piatti String Quartet is being held at a city centre church at 1pm next Wednesday, September 5.

The talented group including David Wigram (viola), Charlotte Scott (violin), Michael Trainor (violin) and Jessie Anne Richardson (cello) will shortly be competing in the ARD International Music Competition in Munich.

Among their pieces at St Peter’s Church in St Albans will be Erwin Schulhoff’s String Quartet no. 1, Henri Dutilleux’s Ainsi La Nuit and Felix Mendelssohn’s String Quartet Opus 13 in A minor.

The Piatti String Quartet had their Wigmore Hall debut in February 2011, returning there in April 2012, and also to the Conway Hall.

They have won much acclaim and are emerging as one of the UK’s leading young string quartets.

As usual the proceeds will be donated to Grove House.

The regular recital series returns on Wednesday, September 19, when pianist Klaus Sticken will open the new series.
