Organist Birgitta Birchall’s lunch concert at St Albans church

LOCAL organist Birgitta Birchall is giving a lunchtime recital in St Albans city centre next Tuesday, August 2.

The latest in a series organised by the New School of Organ Studies, the concert is being held from 12.30pm at Marlborough Road Methodist Church.

Birgitta studied music at Gothenburg University in her native Sweden where she was active as a teacher, organist, choir leader and music director until she came to the UK in 1986.

She left her post at St Albans Girls School last year to pursue a freelance career, tutoring, performing and examining. She also started a tutoring business with a colleague and regularly plays for services at Dagnall Street Baptist Church in the city.
