ONE of Europe's top young string quartets is appearing at the next Radlett Music Club concert.

Carducci String Quartet are half Irish and half British. They have won prizes at six international chamber music competitions including first prize at the 2004 Kuhmo International Chamber Music Competition in Finland.

They also won the jury prize at this year's London International String Quartet competition.

Last year they launched their own record label, Carducci Classics, and had a three-week residency at the Aldeburgh Festival and at Wigmore Hall with pianist Nicola Eimer.

The concert will be at 8.15pm next Thursday, February 21, at The Radlett Centre where the quartet comprising Matthew Denton and Michelle Fleming on violin, Eoin Schmit-Martin on viola and Emma Denton on cello will play Haydn's String Quartet Op 50, Ravel's String Quartet in F and Beethoven's String Quartet Op 59.

Admission is £12 for adults, £10.50 concessions and free for young people and full-time students aged from eight to 22.
