The musical talents of students and staff were showcased at the annual Marlborough Music Festival last Saturday
Over 1,500 people enjoyed the music and activities on offer when The Marlborough Science Academy hosted MFestival5
It provided an opportunity for students to perform alongside established local artists and performances ranged from school bands to solo singers, a festival choir from Mandeville primary school, a ukulele orchestra and music from students and staff.
There were a number of sets from popular Herts bands including The Sounding Line, Treelo, Indi and the Vegas and The Ages.
Headliners Tommy T and the BelleTones were led by Tom Billington, a musician who works at the school. They recently played the O2 with Sophie Ellis-Bextor and featured in Gary Barlow’s backing band on The X Factor.
They played songs from The Jungle Book to Rage Against the Machine before the firework finale brought the evening to a close.
Marlborough headteacher, Annie Thomson, said: “It was a truly exceptional day that captured the spirit, ethos and talents of our school community brilliantly.”
The festival has raised over £25,000 in the last four years which the school has spent on additional equipment in various departments including English, Maths, IT, Music and PE.
