Lunchtime organ recital at St Albans church

LOCAL organist Birgitta Birchall will be giving the lunchtime organ recital in Marlborough Road Methodist Church, St Albans, next Tuesday, July 31.

Birgitta studied music at Gothenburg University in her native Sweden and was active as a teacher, organist, choir leader and music director in the Gothenburg region until she came to the UK in 1986.

She left her post at St Albans Girls� School a couple of years ago to pursue a freelance career, tutoring, performing and examining. She also started a tutoring business with a colleague. Birgitta regularly plays for services at Dagnall Street Baptist Church in St Albans.

The recital is the latest in a series organised by the New School of Organ Studies and begins at 12.30pm with light refreshments available. Admission is free, with a retiring collection in aid of the New School of Organ Studies and the church.
