Author, journalist and presenter, John Suchet, will be presenting an all-Strauss programme of waltzes, polkas and melodies at St Albans Cathedral next month.

Tickets are now on sale for The Last Waltz in Concert which John is presenting on Saturday, September 17.

Locally-based international orchestra Sinfona Verdi will be performing the music with John appearing throughout the evening to take the audience back to the dance halls and music venues of nineteenth century Vienna with tales of the Strauss dynasty. They will include lesser-known stories of family tensions and rivalries.

John Suchet has had a passion for the music of Strauss since travelling to the city of Vienna at the age of 16, He said: “You could hear the music of Strauss almost coming out of every doorway. People just hummed Strauss. They danced it in the evenings.”
