Enter Shikari release DVD

ST ALBANS band Enter Shikari have confirmed release details of a live DVD.
The electronically-influenced post-hardcore quartet from St Albans recorded their Christmas ‘homecoming’ gig at the Forum in Hatfield last year and the live performance will be released on Monday, July 11, as part of the group’s long-awaited collection Live From Planet Earth.
The bumper package consists of a CD of the 2010 date at the University of Hertfordshire venue and two DVDs – the first showing the Hatfield show, as well as the band’s ‘secret’ gig at the Camden Underworld last summer.
The other DVD constitutes volume three of the band’s ongoing Bootleg Series of releases, with professionally recorded footage from the group’s biggest headline show to date at London’s Hammersmith Apollo in February of last year, as well as taking in the 20,000-capacity indoor Summersonic festival show in Tokyo, Japan.
The Live At Hatfield Christmas 2010 audio will also be available as a digital download from iTunes and all the usual download retailers.
Enter Shikari – Rou Reynolds (lead vocals), Rory Clewlow (guitars), Chris Batten (bass) and Rob Rolfe (drums) – also unexpectedly dropped a new single last week.
Entitled Quelle Surprise, it was recorded in London with Dan Weller, who was also at the controls for last year’s Destabilise single.
The track once again pushes Enter Shikari far ahead of their contemporaries in terms of experimentation and blurring the genre boundaries.
And to push things even further, mixing duties were placed in the hands of Mike Fraser, who has previously worked with such heavyweights as AC/DC, Metallica, Biffy Clyro and Franz Ferdinand.
The record isn’t a taster for the group’s third studio album – the follow-up to the hugely successful 2009 opus Common Dreads – which is currently being recorded in Thailand.
The band were apparently so excited by it that the general consensus was that it was better placed in fans’ hands than gathering dust on a disc in the office for the ‘waiting for the right’ time to release it.
Quelle Surprise was released as part of a digital only EP also including two remixes of Destabilise, one by Rou under his ROUT production moniker, and the other by new North London artists Creatures Of Love, plus a version of live favourite Hectic recorded at the Forum Christmas Party show in Hatfield last December.
A limited edition 2x7in – one red vinyl, one white vinyl – pack of the EP will also be released on July 11 to coincide with the live DVD.
