A CHILDREN'S story which appeals to grown-ups is being performed by the Hardynge Choir in their summer concert next Saturday, June 12.
The choir will be singing traditional folk songs arranged for a mixed choir and a performance of The Reluctant Dragon – a children’s story by Kenneth Grahame which, like his other work Wind in the Willows, also appeals to grown-ups.
The adaptation the choir will perform was written originally for the King’s Singers and the City of London Sinfonia.
The concert is being held at 6.30pm at St John’s Church in St John’s Road, Harpenden, and will be conducted by Catherine Beddison. The soloists will be John Ward, bass, Rowland Beddison, tenor, and William Brettle, treble, accompanied by Matthew Woodward.
Tickets for the concert, which rounds off the Hardynge Choir season, are £10 with children aged five to 16 years £1, available from the ticket secretary on 08450 583912.
