BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners headlining first Kimpton Folk Festival

Acclaimed UK folk duo Nancy Kerr and James Fagan are headlining the first-ever Kimpton Folk Festival next month.
The multiple BBC Radio Two Folk Award winners will be topping the bill at the festival on July 9, performing a 75-minute set on the main stage at Kimpton Memorial Hall.
James said: “Nancy and I are delighted to be supporting such an exciting new folk festival. We have many great memories of performing at festivals and clubs in Hertfordshire and we’re really looking forward to participating in Kimpton Folk Festival.”
The festival is a multi-venue event: as well as concerts in the Memorial Hall, there will be a continuous concert in the 12th Century church and all day events under a giant marquee on the village green with a variety of singers and dancers as well as storytelling, guitar, ukulele, spoons and fiddle tuition workshops.
Joining James and Nancy at the festival will be the well-known performer ‘Wild’ Willy Barrett who will be performing with his band The Loose Connection, featuring French singer Aurora Colson and cellist Mary Holland.
Willy, who recently brought his French Connection band to Kimpton for a sell-out curtain-raiser concert, said: “Congratulations to the organisers of this fantastic new festival, which I am sure will be a runaway success. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our involvement in the fundraising concert and we are looking forward to welcoming old friends and new at Kimpton Folk Festival.”
Other artists to appear include John Dipper and Dave Malkin, Worry Dolls, Jacquelyn Hynes Trio, Jaywalkers and Boot Camp. They will be joined by duo Will McNicol and Luke Selby and singer songwriters Kelly Oliver and George Papavgaris
In addition, many local artists who will be appearing including multi-instrumentalists The Foxglove Trio, Ben Smith, Emily Slade, Batkin.Hill and Malcolm Hobbs, who is one of the organisers of Redbourn Folk Club.
More local performers will be appearing on a free stage on the village green, notably the Dan Raza Band, ukulele band The Ver Players, GBH, Bill Redway, Richard Stewart, Steve Warner and Doug Jenner.
