THE annual Lion-Hart Music Festival takes place at two city centre pubs in St Albans on Bank Holiday Monday.

The White Lion in Sopwell Lane and The White Hart Tap in Keyfield Terrace jointly host the charity event running alongside beer festivals at both venues.

Dave Worcester, landlord of the Lion, said: "We raised a four-figure sum last year for various charities. Grove House will feature again this year as one of our main beneficiaries."

Acts appearing at The White Lion include Malakoff featuring Emma Easy, country band Broken Neck, Mouth on a Stick, Dr Shades' Blues Band and The Bob Villains.

At the Tap Bill Johnson, Julian, Five and Dime and Barry's Allstars will all be performing between midday and 11pm.

BSV Jazz will play in The White Lion garden on Sunday between 4pm and 6pm and a barbecue will be held all weekend including Friday evening when the beer festivals start.
