Musicians from all over the world joined dignitaries at reception to mark the start of the 28th St Albans International Organ Festival (IOF).
St Albans Mayor, Cllr Salih Gaygusuz, and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Gill Clark, hosted the reception at the Town Hall for the musicians from 14 countries who are performing in the festival and competing in the interpretation and improvisation competitions.
The IOF got underway last week with a fringe event featuring a mix of music and street entertainment including blues, jazz, folk, new wave and alt-pop with performances at different locations around the city.
The Mayor said: “The International Organ Festival is an extremely important event in our calendar and is going from strength to strength with the launch of IOFringe this year. I encourage everyone to come along and enjoy the amazing music that is being played at different venues in St Albans.”
David Titterington, the IOF’s artistic director, added: “We are very grateful to the Mayor for welcoming all the musicians taking part in the festival to St Albans. We hope as many people as possible will enjoy the rich and varied programme of music that is on offer.”
The IOF runs until this Saturday, July 18, and more information can be found here.
