Maltings Arts Theatre, St Albans, seizing the day with show

THE life and music of Doris Day is celebrated at the Maltings Arts Theatre in St Albans next week.

Wonderful Day is brought to the theatre by Double Sharp Productions and the show features such classics as Que Sera Sera, The Deadwood Stage and Sentimental Journey as well as other songs from Calamity Jane, Pillow Talk, Young at Heart, Love Me or Leave Me and The Pyjama Game.

Backing will be provided the Rhythm Boys, a live band of UK jazz musicians.

The show can be seen at 8pm on Wednesday, February 24, and tickets are £12 with concessions £10, available from the box office on 01727 844222.

Friday Night at the Movies next week is showing Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, in which Decepticon returns to earth with a mission to take Sam Witwicky prisoner after the young hero learns the truth about the ancient origins of the Transformers

The 12 certificate film starts at 7.30pm next Friday, February 26, and tickets are £5 with concessions £4.50.

The following evening, Saturday, February 27, is given over to music and a concert with international pianist Robin Colvill.

He will be performing a programme of light classical music from Schubert to Gershwin and will be joined by baritone John Morgan from the Royal Opera House in London and Kim Colvill on piano.

The concert begins at 7.30pm and tickets are £12 with concessions £10.
