GRAVE news has emerged from the amphitheatre at St Albans School as local drama group Theatrix prepare for their forthcoming production of Hamlet.

The youth drama group have been "excavating" a grave there to receive the corpse of drowned Ophelia as part of the set of Elsinore Castle.

It is Ophelia's death which sparks the violent denouement of Shakespeare's greatest tragedy - the deadly duel between Hamlet and Laertes and the deaths of the King and Queen.

Theatrix is putting on Hamlet from next Wednesday, September 2, until Saturday, September 5. Tickets are £9 with concessions £7.50 and parties £7, available by calling 01727 860217, email admin@theatrix.co.uk or visit www.theatrix.co.uk
