Summer art at St Albans Town Hall
PUBLISHED: 10:08 27 July 2012
AFTER the success of last year’s summer exhibition held by the St Albans Art Society in the Town Hall, they are back there for this year’s show.
A community grant awarded by the district council has enabled the exhibition to be held at the same venue and it will feature a varied selection of paintings, sculpture, glassware and greeting cards, ranging from traditional to contemporary and abstract.
An additional feature this year will be a short City Art Trail which will enable visitors to the exhibition, which runs from tomorrow (Friday) until next Saturday, August 4, to pick up a leaflet at no charge and follow a route to discover places in St Albans they might not have previously noticed.
On Saturday, the society will again be holding a local artists’ day in Waterstone’s Bookstore in St Peter’s Street where members will be giving live demonstrations and offering customers a chance to have a try.
The exhibition will have four trophy-winning categories and former chair, Mary Newbery, will again present the St Albans Trophy this year which she donated to be presented to the artist who best depicts St Albans in an original way.
It is open daily from 10am to 6pm and further information is available from the website www.stalbans-artsociety.org.uk
