Film fanatics flocked to St Albans Cathedral last night for the opening of the second St Albans Film Festival.

Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds was screened at the Abbey in an evening filled with our feathered friends, keeping in with the festival’s avian theme.

Festival founder Leoni Kibbey said: “We have got all sorts for all ages. We have screenings of some really exciting feature films.

“We have lots of free events this year. The Red Arrows Falcons parachute display team will be flying into Verulamium Park on the Sunday morning and we have got some birds of prey as well. Our theme is birds so we’re trying to have it all around flight and birds.

“We have loads of film makers, actors and high quality professional creative people living in the city and it is really nice to celebrate their work.”
