TALENTED young musicians will be showcased in an annual charity music evening to be held in Harpenden next Saturday, June 12.

Now in its 19th year and held at 7.30pm in the Great Drawing Room at Rothamsted Manor, the evening features a concert of solo and chamber music by students from the internationally-acclaimed Purcell School for Young Musicians.

The varied programme, billed as Summer Classics, includes work by Beethoven, Bach, Shostakovich and Mendelssohn. The soloists will be playing piano, flute and cello and there will also be a snare drum soloist playing a suite from Siegfried Fink.

As an added bonus this year, ticket holders are being encouraged to have a picnic in the grounds of Rothamsted Manor before the concert. Gates open at 6pm and the gardens are regarded as a hidden gem in Harpenden.

Tickets for the concert are 15, which includes a complimentary glass of wine or soft drink during the interval. They can be obtained by calling 0845 833 7426, emailing music@harplions.com or using PayPal on the website www.harplions.org
