Award-winning comedy Why is John Lennon Wearing a Skirt? is being performed at the Maltings Arts Theatre in St Albans next Saturday, April 5.

Irrational Theatre is joining forces with Solo Theatre to co-produce Claire Dowie’s Why is John Lennon Wearing a Skirt? with Claire herself performing her new version of the original monologue on the 25th anniversary of the show.

The comedy is not only a rally cry for gender equality but is also regarded as a unique and life-affirming piece of theatre.

Claire Dowie is a writer, performer, poet, comedian and pioneer of stand-up theatre, and her plays also include, Adult Child/Dead Child, Easy Access (For the Boys), All Over Lovely, Cat and Mouse, Death and Dancing and The Year of the Monkey. They have been translated into German, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian.
