August comes to a close at the Alban Arena with a week of film, starting with the hugely popular Sing-a-Long Frozen.

Lyrics will be shown on the screen to help the audience join in all the film’s songs, including Do You Want To Build A Snowman and Let It Go, and screenings are on Tuesday, August 26 at 11am and 2.30pm.

On Wednesday, August 27, you can see the award-winning Belle (12A) at 1.30pm and 7.30pm.

The film is inspired by the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), the illegitimate mixed race daughter of Admiral Sir John Lindsay. Raised by her aristocratic great-uncle Lord Mansfield (Tom Wilkinson) and his wife (Emily Watson), Belle’s lineage affords her certain privileges, yet her status prevents her from the traditions of noble social standing. While her cousin Elizabeth chases suitors for marriage, Belle is left on the sidelines wondering if she will ever find love. After meeting an idealistic young vicar’s son bent on changing society, he and Belle help shape Lord Mansfield’s role as Lord Chief Justice to end slavery in England.

Last and certainly by no means least Maleficent (PG), on Saturday, August 30, at 11am, tells the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty. A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman with stunning black wings, Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army of humans threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal – an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone.

Tickets for matinees are £5 and evenings are £7 or £5 for concessions.
