JEFF Wayne’s musical version of The War of The Worlds – Alive on Stage! The New Generation is coming to the big screen for the first time and will be showing at the Alban Arena next week.

Filmed in front of a sell-out audience at London’s O2 Arena on December 15, 2012, Alive! is a musical multi-media extravaganza based on H.G. Wells’ dark Victorian tale of a Martian invasion of England.

Jeff Wayne’s newly re-imagined production with its award-winning score features the holographic and filmed performance of actor Liam Neeson as George Herbert, The Journalist.

Liam interacts with a cast of live performers featuring Jason Donovan, Marti Pellow, Wicked’s Kerry Ellis, Kaiser Chiefs’ Ricky Wilson and Jett Black’s Will Stapleton.

The show features the hit singles The Eve of The War and Forever Autumn performed live on stage by 45 musicians conducted by Jeff Wayne.

It is being shown at 7.30pm on Tuesday, July 2, and Thursday, July 4.

Prehistoric comedy adventure The Croods (PG) screens at the Arena at 11am next Saturday, July 6.

The film follows the world’s first family as they embark on a journey of a lifetime when the cave that has always shielded them from danger is destroyed.

As if patriarch Grug (Nicolas Cage) didn’t already have enough to handle, it goes from bad to worse when they encounter an imaginative nomad named Guy (Ryan Reynolds.)

With Guy’s help the Croods conquer their fear of the outside world by travelling across a spectacular landscape. They discover an incredible new world filled with fantastic creatures- and their outlook is changed forever.

n The Arena will become the Centre of European Fitness when the Miami pro European Championships is held their next Sunday, July 7.

It starts at 2pm and will find fitness stars and top fitness models vying to be crowned the next European champions.

Categories including Model and Ms Bikini and in addition, there will be fitness stands and plenty of media coverage in fitness magazines.

Standard spectator tickets are £13.50 in advance and £16.50 on the door with elite VIP seating in the first three rows £26.50 and VIP seating after the third row, £20.50.
