VIRTUOSO violinist Ellie Fagg lit up the library of St Albans School in the latest of a series of Young Musicians Concerts.
Ellie, who comes from St Albans, was accompanied by renowned young pianist Anna Tilbrook in playing sonatas by Mendelssohn and Franck with a Szymanowski tone poem in between.
After attacking the Mendelssohn Sonata with youthful fervour and displaying a range of technical skills in performing Szymanowski’s La Fontaine d’Arethuse, Ellie described the Franck Sonata as her all-time favourite piece of music for violin and piano.
Anna has already established a considerable reputation as an accompanist and since being made leader of the National Youth Orchestra, Ellie has won a number of awards.
She described the concert at the school, where her brother was once a pupil, as being back on home turf as she has played a number of concerts and workshops there before.
