Harpenden is alive with the Sound of Music this week as the light operatic society puts on the much-loved musical with some of the most memorable music of all time.
Running in the Public Halls until Saturday (12), Harpenden Light Operatic Society has involved a host of young talent from the area in the story of the young nun Maria who is sent to be a governess to the seven Von Trapp children.
Captain Von Trapp and his children are captivated by Maria and the joy and music she brings to the family but their happy lives are changed forever by the invasion of the Nazis into Austria.
The production focuses primarily on the relationship of Maria and the children amid the backdrop of late 1930s Austria.
