The latest from St Albans Gang Show

An exclusive blog running throughout this year’s St Albans Gang and Scout Show
Our second night of the show was really good. I think it was better than the opening night as we’d had some practice of performing in front of the audience. It was really exciting.
My mum, my great uncle and great auntie and my grandparents were in the audience. My Grandad had not seen St Albans Gang Show before, but he had been in one – 50 years ago in Guildford!
Things have changed a lot since when my Grandad was in the show – although we still have the Crest Of A Wave song at the end.
We use a lot of technology now to make sure the show is as up-to-date as possible. One thing we did this year is to have video adverts between the items. We all auditioned to be in them and I was lucky to be chosen for one – a joke advert about a computer game. It was fun recording it – the camera was at all different levels to get it just right.
The crew also used a green screen to do some filming so that cast members can be superimposed on lots of different backgrounds around the world!
Another device we use in the show which is unusual is that we use air to look like tea coming out of a teapot – it’s really cool!

My favourite part of the show is the called Cracked Nuts and it’s a dance that we do in front of the curtains dressed as toy soldiers. There are 12 of us in it and it’s really good fun doing it.
When I joined Gang Show I knew about six people from my Scouts in London Colney. Now I’ve made lots of friends.
This week is quite tiring but it’s a really good experience and totally different to anything that I’ve ever done before. I definitely want to do it next year.
