AN ECLECTIC evening of musical theatre is being held by the St Albans-based drama group OVO at their city centre theatre next Saturday night, October 2.
The programme will incorporate a diverse mix of composers and styles, ranging from Cole Porter to Mamma Mia via Rogers and Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Entitled A Musical Journey, it also answers such questions as how the Romans invented tap shoes and why a woman churning butter created a theatre revolution as well as the local links to one of the greats of musical theatre.
OVO, which is now based at Pudding Lane, 29A Chequer Street, has developed a fine musical reputation having incorporated live music into many of its theatrical productions and giving birth to Food of Love, its jazz band spin-off which will perform at Pudding Lane in December.
Tickets for A Musical Journey, which begins at 8pm, are 12.50 with concessions 7.50, available from the box office on 07807 521436 or online at www.ovo.org.uk
