DJ and acclaimed travel writer Stuart Maconie is talking about his new book Hope and Glory at the Maltings Arts Theatre in St Albans next Thursday evening, June 9.
Stuart, who co-hosts the Radcliffe and Maconie Show on BBC 6Music as well as The Freak Zone and The Freakier Zone, takes a single key event from each decade of the 20th Century in his new book.
They range from the death of Victoria to the demise of New Labour and Stuart visits the places where the events happened and goes in search of their legacy today.
He also looks at how England won the World Cup in 1966 and has been obsessed with football ever since and how Live Aid gave birth to celebrity culture.
The talk begins at 7.30pm and tickets are available from Waterstone’s in St Peter’s Street, St Albans.
