VIENNA’S finest comes to Harpenden next Thursday, when the Arbutus String Quartet perform Mozart and Haydn.

Local professional violinist Miles Golding and his three colleagues form the quartet who will perform at St Nicholas’ Parish Church on September 29.

Opening with Mozart’s first quartet, written when he was just 14, the initial piece explores the astonishing range of colour and emotions from the opening rhapsodic adagio to the bubbling rondo. Haydn’s 3rd Prussian Quartet is the second piece in the programme which is then closed by one of the set of six that Mozart dedicated to his friend Haydn.
