THE OLD adage, the show must go on, was never more in evidence than when Dance Academy UK put on A Night with the Stars at the Alban Arena.

For just an hour before curtain up, school principal Liana Wall, fractured a metatarsal bone in her foot backstage – but continued to direct the show and give her final speech to the audience before rushing to hospital.

Nearly 200 dancers and singers from all over Herts and Beds took part in A Night with the Stars which was performed in front of an almost sold-out auditorium and the Mayor of St Albans, Cllr Maxine Crawley. The Mayor said: “My daughter and I spent a delightful evening at the Alban Arena being entertained by Dance Academy UK. The children were very sweet and the adults were clearly enjoying themselves on stage as much as the youngsters.

“We were not only impressed with the calibre of the dancing but also by the smiling faces of all who took part. The soloists were amazing and the whole show was performed with warmth and good humour.”
