A sell-out benefit concert by community ukulele group Ver Players in October has raised £7,500 in aid of mental health charity Mind.

The St Albans-based Ver Players have more than 70 members of all ages and meet once a fortnight to sing and play.

They raised the money at the concert in the Jubilee Centre Hall and have now presented a cheque to Mind in Mid Herts.

A spokesperson for Mind said: “We are delighted and very grateful to receive this amazing donation raised by the Ver Players. As a service provider for people with life experience of mental health problems we are only to aware of the stigma attached to mental health and it is so wonderful to receive this money but also it means so much to us that local people and groups want to support us and raise our profile.”
