ROCK musical Rent proved a sell-out success when Top Hat Stage School’s Youth Theatre performed it at the SandPit Theatre in St Albans.
With a cast of over 40 members aged between 12 and 17 and all from the St Albans area, it featured a full live band.
Rent has won dozens of awards and was recently made into a major Hollywood movie. Top Hat vice principal Andy Musgrove, who directed the show, said: “We purposely choose musicals that really push our students.”
He pointed out that it dealt with such issues as drug addiction and Aids and the cast had coped with them with maturity in both sell-out performances of the musical.
