THE Horn in St Albans has been shortlisted for a music pub of the year award.

It is in the final six in the Publican magazine award scheme which is open to all premises licensed to play music in their business, either live or recorded.

The Horn in Victoria Street faces competition from pubs in Swindon, Bristol, Colchester, Huddersfield and Fife.

Adrian Bell, owner of The Horn, said: "We're extremely pleased to have been shortlisted for the Music Pub of the Year Award. I have got fantastic staff and they all work really hard to provide a great atmosphere and book the best bands that they can whilst still providing an essential place for local bands to develop so it's fantastic to get recognition for it."

The winner will be announced at The Publican Awards on April 21.
