A GROUP of friends have formed their own singing group named after the pub at which they are regulars.

The Six Bells Singers meet up weekly for a light-hearted sing-along, each taking it in turn to host rehearsals which have an emphasis on enjoyment rather than vocal perfection.

As regulars at the St Michael's pub, they have led the vocals at the Christmas carols evening for the last three years and both the St George and St Patrick evenings in 2009.

They are currently rehearsing for this year's St Patrick's Day sing-along which, like the others at the pub, will be in aid of Keech Cottage Children's Hospice.

The Six Bells Singers want to raise money for charity and put something back into the local community at the same time so at no charge they are available to entertain around nursing homes in St Albans or anywhere where singing is appreciated.

Alternatively they will be hosting a sing song at the Six Bells on Wednesday, March 17. Further details can be obtained by contacting Jenny of The Six Bells Singers via jenny.hehl@googlemail.com
