EXPLORING sincerity is at the heart of the latest exhibition at a St Albans art gallery which opens next Wednesday, April 14.
Seriously....? can be seen at the Margaret Harvey Gallery at the University of Herts' faculty of law in Hatfield Road until June 5.
The exhibition focuses on sincere performance and the use of theatrical device in artists' film as well as how the value of sincerity is reflected and challenged in contemporary art practice.
The artists - David Blandy, Katie Davies, Oriana Fox, Karin Kihlberg and Reuben Henry, Laura Kuch, Harold Offeh, Paul Teigh and Martin Russell - use hollow speech and gesture such as lip-synching or the citing of clichs to communicate commitment to serious contemporary issues such as identity, sexuality and cultural heritage.
