FAMILIES - who'd have them! Certainly not the offspring of the matriarch of the anniversary party which is at the heart of the next play by the St Albans drama group, the Company of Ten.
The Anniversary - chosen because the company is celebrating its 75th season - is a black comedy filled with acid humour and witty verbal sword play.
But while it is guaranteed to make the audience laugh, they will also squirm at the antics of the family at the heart who all try to out-manoeuvre one another.
The occasion is dear old Mum's wedding anniversary and although Dad has been dead for years, her sons are obliged to gather for the annual celebration.
But this year they have something to tell Mum - if they can summon the nerve - because Mum is not the usual matriarch.
Evil, malevolent and fanatically possessive, she is used to getting her own way and will use any means to keep her boys tied to her apron strings.
