A well-deserved break from non-stop touring means St Albans band Enter Shikari will be on song for a series of performances throughout the UK, starting next month.

When bassist Chris Batten spoke to the Herts Advertiser last Friday (8), he admitted: “2015 was busy with our album (The Mindsweep) coming out, and we went out on the road.

“We didn’t stop touring till the end of October and the shows have been amazing – we have had a good time.”

Chris said that having time to recuperate between annual tours - along with appearing at many festivals - had given the band, which includes Rory Clewlow, Rob Rolfe and Rou Reynolds, “time to figure out what to do with the shows.

“The whole tour is going to be in quadraphonic sound, so people will be surrounded by sound and it will add an extra dimension to our shows.

“While we have been back in St Albans we have been practising every day, and doing video grabs for the tour – just being creative. Being back home has been lovely as it’s always nice to see friends and family. We’ve also been visiting [local pubs] The Horn, The Boot and The Beehive.”

Enter Shikari’s February tour, supporting The Mindsweep, one of last year’s most successful rock albums, starts with “a pair of relatively intimate Scottish dates”.

The local band then heads down the country before ending up with a 10,000-capacity show at Alexandra Palace in London at the end of the month.

From March the quartet will be in France, before playing in Spain, Italy, Germany and elsewhere in Europe.

Enter Shikari released its fourth full-length studio album The Mindsweep in January last year, giving the band its fourth UK album chart top 10 album.

Its most recent single, Torn Apart, spent three weeks on the BBC Radio One playlist, and saw the band recording its fourth ‘live lounge’ for the station.

Chris said: “After touring this year I expect we will go back to the studio and create more music.”
