FOUR trophies have been awarded to the winners in the St Albans Art Society summer exhibition which runs until Saturday at the Old Town Hall in the city centre.

The Terry Biggs Cup for the overall exhibition winner went to Morag Saunders for Dorset 2012 while the St Albans trophy was awarded to Cate Thomas for Market Day, St Albans.

Lynn Allen won the Challenge Trophy for Keep Moving and the Equestrian Art Prize was awarded to Melanie Mathews for White Horse.

Former chair of the art society, Mary Newbury, presented the St Albans Trophy which she donated specifically for the artist who best depicted St Albans in an original way.

The exhibition features a varied selection of paintings, sculpture, glassware and greeting cards ranging from traditional to contemporary and abstract. Further informatiopn can be found at www.stalbans-artsociety.org.uk
